Dexilant – drug normalizing stomach acid, proton pump inhibitor. The active substance dexlansoprazole – optical isomer of lansoprazole (same as esomeprazole omeprazole is an optical ezomerom – for details, see “A comparison of esomeprazole with other proton pump inhibitors” in “esomeprazole”).
Use Dexilant 60 mg
Dexlansoprazole used to treat certain stomach and esophagus problems (eg, acid reflux). It works by decreasing the amount of acid the stomach makes. It relieves symptoms such as heartburn, difficulty swallowing, and persistent cough. This medicine helps heal acid damage the stomach and esophagus, helps prevent ulcers, and may help prevent esophageal cancer. Dexlansoprazole belongs to a class of drugs known as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs).

Use this medication for conditions listed in this section only if it has been so prescribed by your professional. Dexlansoprazole health care can also be used to treat stomach ulcers.
How to use Dexilant 60 mg
Read the patient information leaflet, if you can get your pharmacist before you start taking dexlansoprazole and every time you get a refill. If you have questions, ask your doctor or the medicine pharmacist. Take in the mouth, as directed by your doctor, usually once daily with or without food. If your symptoms usually appear after a meal, your doctor may direct you to take your dose every day for food the same for best results. Dosage and duration of treatment based on your medical condition and response to treatment. Do not crush or chew the capsule. Swallow this medication whole. If you have trouble swallowing this medication whole, you can open the capsule and sprinkle the contents on 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of applesauce. Swallow all drug / food mixture immediately without chewing. Do not cook the mixture in advance for future use. It can destroy drug.If needed, antacids may be taken together with this medication. If you also take sucralfate, take dexlansoprazole at least 30 minutes before sucralfate. Use this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, take it at the same time every day. Continue to take this medication for the prescribed duration of treatment, even if you feel better. Tell doctor if your condition persists or worsens.
Missed dose Dexilant 60 mg
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing. Do not double the dose to catch up.
Precautionary measures Dexilant 60 mg
Before taking dexlansoprazole, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it or similar drugs (eg lansoprazole, omeprazole), or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients that may cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: liver disease. Some symptoms may actually be signs of a more serious condition. Tell your doctor if you have: heartburn with dizziness / sweating / dizziness, chest pain or arm (especially with shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, pain spreads to the arms / jaw / neck / shoulder), unexplained weight loss. Proton pump inhibitors (such as dexlansoprazole) may increase the risk of bone fractures, especially with more use, higher doses and in older people. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about how to prevent bone loss / fracture, such as taking calcium (such as calcium citrate) and vitamin D supplements. Before having surgery, tell your doctor or dentist about all the products you use (including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs and herbal products). During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when really necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It unknown if this drug passes into breast milk. However, these drugs pass into breast milk. The impact on infant are unknown. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Side Effects Dexilant 60 mg
Diarrhea may occur. If this effect persists or worsens, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.Remember, that your doctor has prescribed this medication because he determines that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects. A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, get medical help immediately if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching / swelling (especially the face / tongue / throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.
